Cloverfield

No, It’s not Godzilla

Cloverfield

Although I would have to say this movie is a cross of The Blair Witch Project and Godzilla. I went into this movie with low expectations and was completely blown away. Matt Reeves made this generic big monster run movie into a beautiful artistic edge of your seat confusion ride that will not become a jaded memory. I do have to say that this isn’t a movie to see after a night of drinking. Unlike The Blair Witch Project you can see professionalism in all the shots but at the same time have the handycam feeling. The somewhat “no-name” cast was picked well and the acting was even better. The plot followed the characters more than defining the creature which was a nice change.

I definitely recommend seeing this movie. Even if it costs you millions!

One Missed Call

Which should be titled “One Movie You Should Miss.”  One Missed Call

I can’t say this movie was a letdown since I didn’t expect much from it anyway.  This was a mash-up between The Ring and The Grudge.  The logic the characters use in this movie makes no sense.  Apparently if someone burns to death in a hospital logically they will make their way into the phone systems.  The acting was sub par and the cast just didn’t do it for me.  The movie was PG-13 and that alone was a letdown.  I still never understood why no one tried to answer the actual call instead of letting it go to voicemail.  And what’s with all these antagonist’s having respiratory problems, from the Ring to the Grudge to One Missed Call.  I smoke and I don’t sound like this.  Get these people a humidifier.

Over all the movie gets a SUCK.  Not even worth matinee.

Party Hard At The Office

This is a video Greg and I had put together a few months ago.  I know it’s been up for a while but I figured I’d post it here too.  So far with over 2,000 views and five stars I feel we made a good video…..enjoy!

Weekend Snow

Late last Sunday we got a lot of snow which gave me the opportunity on Monday to work from home.  I think we got about six inches of snow which isn’t really that much but it was very heavy, as you can see from the picture below, a tree I park under was weighed down over my car and almost to the street.  It was fun moving it.

Ending Music

One Sunday a few weeks ago I stumbled into a song.  I thought it sounded good so I spent a couple hours setting up some mics and I put a rough mix together.  Although it’s far from perfect I’m happy with how it came out.  I still have a lot of work left on it but I feel this is a decent rough cut, especially for being recorded in a basement next to a water heater that was on at the time.

So in the song you might be able to count four guitar tracks and some drums.  I had to do the drums on a keyboard since I can’t afford a decent set and I don’t have the micing capabilities.  Surprisingly there is a lot of low end with no actual bass tracks.  Although the song is done with four guitar tracks I can play almost all of it in one take, I just wanted to get some good placement for the instruments.
